Jak Tichenor explores Depression-era art as we feature a 13-foot tall Totem Pole depicting the sun and the mythical Tlingit Native American creature Raven. Donated to the SIU Museum in 1972, this beautiful piece is likely the result of a Civilian Conservation Corps program that provided Native craftsmen in the Alaska territories with an opportunity to create a market for these massive carvings.
