Post Office Art

Clip | 19m 34s

Mary Emma Thompson has spent her retirement years chronicling Depression-era art for Illinois Post Offices. This artwork is different from other work funded by the New Deal Stimulus because it was commissioned by the U.S. Treasury Department. Joining us on the tour is George Mavigliano who published a book about this unique artwork in 1989 entitled The Federal Art Project in Illinois: 1935-1943
